Questions and Answers
QUESTION:
Does the Structural Engineer required have to be licensed as a PE in Iowa.
ANSWER:
It is the understanding that with a large portion of the proposal grading criteria being the experience of the structural engineer, their competency to observe and advise on the erection of a steel truss will come from the evaluation of the RFPs, not necessarily their licensure. Unless, there is a legal liability issue, I would find Iowa licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) acceptable. I will be signing the as-builts and any resulting change order from their advisement, and any plan revisions necessary would go through the construction design service consultant (Parsons).
